Many have been waiting over a year for this particular app, and now it’s finally released for Android but at the rather steep price of $29.99!

For those not aware of what a Slingbox does, effectively it relays your own TV images to anywhere on the internet.  Now you can watch your own TV out and about on your Android device. Over WiFI or even 3G you can have direct control over your Sky or Virgin Media box and stream your own movie or sports channels direct to your mobile phone!

I don’t have a Slingbox myself, but when I saw some of the app previews for this app I was considering spending the £95 on a Slingbox Solo to give me the option of watching my Virgin paid channels when on the go.  The problem being, I can’t imagine there will be all that many occassions I would do this, so putting the price tag at a very steep $29.99, one of the most expensive apps you’ll find on the Android market, has meant I probably wont bother.

Early reports are the picture quality is fantastic, but of course we can’t report on it ourselves unless Slingmedia accept my offer of a review in exchange for the app!  I’ll keep you posted.
