Put FroYo on Your Desire!

Yes, the clever folk over at XDA Developers have found a way to install 2.2 onto your shiny new Desire.

You will need root access and a small knowledge of flashing ROM’s will be an advantage.  If you’re brave enough, read on!

I’ve done none of the hard work here, I’m just passing on the useful links, the credit goes to the folk on XDA Devs.

First thing to do is to root your Desire, which we already have a guide for.  Next you will want to put Fake Flash on your device.  This will allow you to boot into recovery mode without the use of a PC.  In recovery you will be able to flash a FroYo based Desire ROM such as DeFrost.

It should be noted, there are some bugs still, the light sensor doesn’t work, not does video recording.  Some users report echoing in their calls, so use at your own risk.

Unfortunately, being a Nexus One owner, I can’t check these, so please be careful and report back any findings you have in the comments below.

Good luck!
