London & UK Speed Testing – Please help

Over the past week I’ve been let down twice by my network only giving my a 2G connection, even though I’m in the bustling metropolis of London.  With a data connection being so important these days, I’ve decided it might be time to seek out who ever is best and make a move after 17 years with my current network.

After a little Googling I realise it’s not so easy to find some simple results on speeds of mobile data though, so I figured I’m make my own results.  This is where you all come in to play…

Please help out, this will only take around 30 seconds each time.

    1. Install the SpeedTest.net app on your Android device.
    2. Ensure WiFi is turned off
    3. Run the test
    4. Go to results
    5. Hit the e-mail icon and select your mail client
    6. Add your network provider to the end of the subject line (Orange, 02, Three, Vodafone)
    7. Send to hemorrdroids@gmail.com

That’s it!  If you can do this from 2 or 3 locations either in London, or elsewhere around the UK, I can compile the results on a Google Map, which I would imagine I can make public at some point, so everyone can benefit from this testing.

Hi, I don’t need averages from you guys, I need exact info. I can work out averages. :-)

If I did email that page it would be the result from only one test, which could be unrepresentative of my average speeds?  Wouldn’t it be better to email the first results page?

Widgets are Launcher Pro Plus and the dock icons are made by Simple Text.  I trust you’ve sent some results in?

Yes, but you understand that’s different to what I’m trying to do?

Hi, the BBC recently made an app to test 3g coverage available and have published the map here:
