In an interview with Mercury News Andy Rubin (Google’s VP of Engineering), acknowledged that the current speed at which Android OS development is going is not sustainable in the long term and that they will have to cut down to only one update a year so that “things start settling down.”
Rubin explained in the interview that the speed at which updates came out was very high because they wanted to get the “product up to market spec.”
This should be great news for both OEM’s and developers.
Qualcomm is the company known for its amazing Snapdragon-based processors that are powering many of our more high end devices. They have just announced their first dual core Snapdragon processors. The new models are the MSM8260 and the MSM8660 which feature two cores that can run up to 1.2Ghz per core, WOW. Phones are getting more powerful then ever, and I still remember my first pc, it was like 333Mhz . Processors seem to get better and better but batteries haven’t seen a great improvement over the years, I wonder how long phones will last with the new dual core processors.
This is a tablet device I spotted a month or so back and with the iPad taking the news with its UK release happening a couple of days ago, I thought it might be a good time to put some details up about it.
It was originally named the WePad, but recently has changed to the WeTab.
Lets take a look at some of the specs of the top end WeTab 3G -
It’s being produced in Germany but wont be available until August at this point. The 3G version will be availabel for €569, with a cheaper WiFi only version available for €449. This is limited to 16GB, no GPS or HDMI output.
Although it’s said to run the Android operation system, there’s been no mention as to what version it will be. We know it will support Flash, does that mean it’s based on 2.2 or will it be a special tablet version of Android?
Have a look on YouTube and you’ll find plenty of video’s of it in action. Head over to their website to register your interest!
We reported a few days back that FroYo was apon us. This turns out to be only half true, while it is FroYo, it’s not the official release. It has been confirmed we’re playing around with a Release Candidate which may well be changed before the official 2.2 OS is launched.
We have been up and running for just over two weeks now!
We are constantly adding new posts and now getting unique visitors in the 3 digit range.
Please help us to make it better (for you) by giving us some feedback on what you like and what you don’t like.
A rumour has just come out that Froyo (Android 2.2) will be hitting the HTC Desire this June, can this really be? Froyo all spiced up with sence in time to be released in June.
What is it with these major phone manufacturers, it seems they’re either leaving their prototype phones in bars or other stupid places. This time around it’s Motorola, and according to Gizmodo, the Motorola Droid Shadow was found in a gym.

So I get home after a long day, work and then driving up to and back from Leicester, I’m getting in to bed after midnight as I’m back at work in the morning… What!?!?!?! FroYo’s out!?!?!?!
So, not much sleep for me last night. After only 2 days ago we reported on the proximity of a Android 2.2 release, it’s here already. Google had said it would be in the next couple of weeks, next couple of days would have been more accurate!
After the the “Tactical Nuke” dropped on us with answers regarding Froyo at the Google IO, many of us were instead left with many burning questions, when? who? how?
Well according to a tweet at Google IO’s twitter page the Nexus One will be getting the Froyo loving in the coming weeks.
But what about the rest of us, we all ain’t got Nexus One’s, read on for more information.
