There seem to be an increasing amount of people getting upset with the XDA Developers website. Take a look at this guys blog post as an example. He seems fed up with the Android Developer community in general, but him and his team had reason to move away from XDA Developers.
Then, I noticed yesterday in the Galaxy SII forum, they’d split the development forum up, creating a sub-forum for ‘derivative ROMs’, which basically means people that copied someone elses ROM and just made a few basic changes, perhaps to the theme. It is explained in this thread, but there are many, many people upset about this, with some developers being rather offended they’ve been pushed into this lesser forum.
Epitiro is teaming up with the BBC to take an independent survey of mobile data speeds across the UK, but they need Android users help.
In co-operation with the BBC, Epitiro is conducting the UK 3G Survey to show where high-speed 3G services are available in every city, village and town across the country.
How can you help?
By downloading the UK 3G Survey app you’ll provide information that the BBC will use to create a definitive UK 3G Coverage map, for anyone to access. Not only will you help build the BBC UK 3G Coverage Map, you’ll also see your coverage history on your android smartphone.
The folks over at the XDA Forum are always surprising us, and here we are, once again, surprised. XDA has managed to get hold of an early release of an upcoming Android update for the Samsung Galaxy S II, to be specific, Android 2.3.4.
If you haven’t already installed the modified GTalk application for video chat, then it was probably because you were waiting for 2.3.4. Now you can finally enjoy that feature.
We’ve got some exclusive news for you lot thanks to one of our sources at Mobilefun.co.uk in regards to the HTC Evo 3D UK release date and price.
The Evo 3D is HTC’s answer to LG’s Optimus 3D: it’s the salvation for those looking for a device that takes 3D pictures, video, and the ability to view content in 3D on the device itself without the need for 3D glasses.
Searching for a car takes time, and if you’re someone who spends most of that time shopping around the Internet, you’ll know what Auto Trader is. Autotrader.co.uk allows anyone to search for cars and other motor vehicles using their postcode, and gives people the ability to narrow down their search criteria and so on.
Autotrader.co.uk is the UK’s most busiest automotive web site, and now it’s available on Android.
Just a couple of months ago we wrote an article about the possibility of the HTC Evo 3D coming out in the UK, it seems that news has now been further solidified by a statement from Phones Limited saying that Vodafone have ‘confirmed’ a release date for the HTC Evo 3D.
If the news is correct, than the HTC Evo 3D wont be the only dual-core 3D capable handset to be released in the UK, as the LG Optimus 3D may come out slightly earlier in June.
Check out the teaser video after the break.
As usual XDA is strutting its muscles or in this case, their brains, the Exynos chipset in the Galaxy SII has been overclocked to 1.5GHz.
The overclock has substantially improved the devices quadrant and Linpack scores, which even before an overclock was amazing for a phone.
For more information and a video check after the break.
If you don’t know what Zipcar is, then this information probably wont be useful to you but if you know what it is and are a member you’ll be happy to know that the Zipcar Application is now available in the Android Market.
Zipcar is pretty much a membership-based car sharing company that lets you hire/rent cars that are billable by the hour or day depending on your preference.
If you’ve been checking out our site regularly or any other Android blog, you should have heard about HTC’s dual-core Sensation and the tablet Flyer. We got the chance to get our hands on the devices at the HTC UK Event in Bloomsbury, London, and so did other fans of HTC and Android.
I know that many people were disappointed that these events tend to always happen in London, leaving those not in the City no chance to have a play with the devices. Well, I got some good news for you lot, HTC is holding a UK and Ireland Roadshow.
