When I was a young lad, I dabbled in programming, pretty much all in basic. I wrote a pretty good American Football game, based around stats and numbers rather than graphical. I thought at the time of trying to market and sell it, but there was just no decent medium for this to be done. The other problem being, the Amiga I had (with a whopping 3 meg of RAM as opposed to 512k) was probably one of the only Amiga’s in the country it would run on, 512k just not cutting it! (I had a lot of arrays)

Anyway, what I’m realising these days, there’s much better systems and processes for programmers and developers to get their apps onto mobile devices and maybe make a bit of cash from it too. There have been a few news articles about some programmers making good money from some of the more popular apps, which I think is great, it makes me wish I’d kept up my efforts.
Money aside, I thought I’d like to find a few things out about some devs, so I asked one of the more responsive devs I know, Joël Bourquard the developer of Titanium Backup, if he’d answer a few questions for me.
Titanium Backup is one of the most popular apps among root users, with the ability to backup and restore your apps and app data. For those of us that enjoy swapping ROM’s every day or so, this is invaluable.
It has over 300,000 downloads with 13,170 ratings on the Market and averages 4.79 stars right now. You’ll do well if you can find another app with such a good rating as that!
Read on to hear a little about Joël.
