Gametel Bluetooth Gamepad

The good people at Gametel sent me one of their new bluetooth gamepad devices to try with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, very nice it is too!

It pairs up very easily, has QR codes on the box for the drivers (App) and a demo video and then clamps your phone in place above the controller.

Take a look after the break for more photo’s and my video of it’s unboxing and it in action.

Retro Phone Kit

Those of us over 25 will likely recognise the style of this ‘retro’ handset.  Back in the 80′s, I think ALL landline phones looked like this handset does, so it will be very familiar to some.

I have to admit, having watched the promo video (see below) I thought this some kind of joke, or novelty item, but I have to say, it’s a little more than that.

Samsung Official Galaxy SII Extended Battery

One of the things I like about my Samsung Galaxy SII is the amazing light, thin feel of the device, so I was a little scepticle about fitting an extended battery, adding extra weight to the device.  Having said that, any and every Android device has forum threads extending off into the distance discussing how to make it’s battery last longer, so I was very eager to see what this battery could add.

I should also point out, everyone will see different results from a similar battery.  Some people on the standard battery will only get 16 hours use, others will have their’s last for 30, it’s all down to how you’re phone is set up and how much you use it.  Let’s come back to this later though, for now we’ll take a look at the extended battery itself.

Pocket Boom

Pocket Boom is an interesting ‘speaker’ that works by vibrating whatever it’s attached to!  Boxes, mugs, pots, desks, windows… this little device turns anything into a speaker.

Although it can be attached to anything, results are very different depending the item it’s stuck on.

Android Bluetooth Speaker

Personally I love Bluetooth gadgets. When you change device a lot, the fact you can still use all your Bluetooth devices saves a lot of money. This Bluetooth device is one of the better ones you’ll find.

Not only is it a great little Bluetooth speaker, but it works as a hands free device allowing you to make calls using it and it looks cool as hell!

Mugen Samsung Galaxy S2 Extended Battery – 1700mAh

I was very interested when I saw Mugen had finally produced an extended battery for the SGSII that didn’t require a special back plate to allow it to be used.  This 1700mAh fits snugly into the space taken by the stock Samsung battery, although it does only claim to add 50mAh, so it’s not a huge ‘extension’.  The good people at MobileFun.co.uk were good enough to send me one.

Battery power is always a very hot topic on any Android phone released.  Androids seem to have a reputation of having poor battery life, so the thoughts of a regular sized battery that’ll squeeze into the phone with it holding it’s beautiful design and weight was very welcoming.

Case-Mate Barely There – Galaxy SII

Maybe it’s the rebel in me.  Maybe I love living dangerously, but I tend not to use a case on my devices.  That’s right, my device is left out there, nekkid, the cool breeze blowing round my MicroUSB slot…  erm…  anyway…

Generally I don’t like the extra bulk added, I prefer to go with the ‘just don’t drop your £400 device’ tactic.  With the SGSII being so light and thin, this is a tactic that is even more valuable.  Putting a case on this will make it as heavy and bulky as other devices, taking away one of it’s unique selling points.

My understanding of a case called ‘Barely there’ is that you wont really notice it’s on the phone, maybe this is what I need.  I’ve not tried them before, but thanks to the good people at MobileFun I thought I’d give it a go.

Genuine Samsung Galaxy S2 MHL Adaptor

Whilst the MHL adapter for the Galaxy SII was released many weeks ago, demand has been rather high and they have been a little hard to get hold of.  Well, the good people at MobileFun have been able to send me one, to show you all how it works!

At a base level, it’s rather a simple premise.  Anything you see on your phone screen, you see on your TV screen.

Comply Foam Tips

Last week I lost one of the ear buds from my Sennheiser CX500′s.  I didn’t think it would be a big deal, but for the following week I struggled to hear my podcasts if there was much back ground noise, like for example, when I’m riding my motorbike to work.

I was thinking I would probably just have to buy new earphones, but then stumbled across these ‘memory foam’ style ear buds on Amazon.  At £15 they were the same price as replacing my current earphones, but I decided to take the risk that maybe they would be even better than the originals.

A great Bluetooth speaker at a reasonable price -
